Easy Way To Remove Yellow Sweat Stains From Clothes

I don’t know about you but I hate putting clean clothes away only to see that there are still yellow armpit stains. Do you wish there was an easy way to remove yellow sweat stains from clothes?

Simple Ingredients

I love when I can reach into my cupboard and pull out ingredients that I already on hand have to solve another problem. To remove armpit stains, grab some baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, dishwashing detergent, and a small dish. Combine 1 Tablespoon each of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and dishwashing detergent.

yellow box of baking soda, bottle of blue Dawn dish detergent, brown bottle of hydrogen peroxide, small white dish with blue mixture inside and a spoon.

Apply

You can use the same spoon you used to mix the ingredients to apply the mixture to the yellowed stained areas of your shirt. Usually, in my home that means I’m applying the mixture the armpit areas and the collar area for button-up shirts. You can also use a toothbrush to work the cleaning mixture into the stained area.

While I use the blue Dawn detergent in my cleaning mixtures, there is a small chance a colored detergent could change the coloring of your clothes. If you are concerned, use clear detergent or test on a small area that isn’t noticeable. (I love to use blue Dawn to remove grease stains from shirts! Check out how to use it on my blog post Getting Rid of Grease Stains)

Wait

After you apply the mixture to your shirt then comes my favorite part of cleaning – wait. Go ahead and do whatever you want for an hour or two to let the cleaning mixture do its magic.

Wash

Once the time is up, launder your shirt as normal. If the stain is older, it may require an additional treatment. What a simple way to remove yellow sweat stains?

Money Saved

I loved finding this DIY cleaning mixture to remove armpit stains on clothes.  In years past, I have tossed shirts thinking that there was no way to clean them. This has been a money saver for me. I have been able to bring life back to shirts that I thought were lost to yellow armpit stains.

Do you have any other cleaning mixtures you use to remove yellow sweat stains? If so, I would love to hear them below.
